Jess Kemp

At twenty three years old with seven years on the Manchester Music Scene, Jess Kemp has received critical acclaim from the likes of BBC Radio 2, BBC Introducing, Clint Boon and many more.

Her debut single Stars was launched in 2015 and hit a high note with BBC Radio 2 and BBC Introducing straight away. Next came her debut EP Camden which brings a much bolder and more exciting sound to tracks already featured by BBC Introducing and BBC Radio 2.

Her latest single VondelPark released in March 2017, attracted more attention from BBC Introducing during its debut week and the track was soon followed with her second music video. For Jess, summer 2017 included a huge line up of festivals including; Kendal Calling, Bluedot Festival, Blackthorn Music Festival, Liverpool Pride, The Bulldog Bash, Manchester Rock and Bike Fest, Irlam Live and The Rum 100 – some of which she hit the stage with her full backline band.

Summer 2016 saw Jess hit the road for a four date European tour. Since, Jess found herself winning the Manchester Arndale Student Band Competition which bagged her and her band a slot at Kendal Calling 2017 and Bluedot 2017. 2016 also saw Jess place 3rd for Best Unsigned Female in the Best Of British Unsigned Music Awards and 3rd for Indie Week Europe from 70+ bands.

Her latest singles No Shouting and On the Ground recorded at Manchester’s iconic Blueprint Studio are hot off the press after a huge release gig at Manchester’s Deaf Institute in May this year. The rest of the 2018 looks to be exciting for Jess as she prepares to hit the road to embark on her UK Pride Tour alongside playing a festival season jam packed with gigs up and down the country.

The catchy nature of her songwriting would surely capture the hearts and minds of a nation. Her voice is quite unique, switching between a bluesy and soulful snarl, to something more gracious and velvety.” Sonic Bandwagon (Pure FM)

“A definite favourite of mine” Natalie Eve-Williams (BBC Introducing in Manchester)

“Her music just makes you happy” Michelle Hussey (BBC Introducing in Manchester)
